The 2017 Arizona Women’s Golf Expo Is Coming To The Westin Kierland

The Westin Kierland Golf Club will host the 2017 Women’s Golf Expo, an event designed to showcase what’s new in women’s golf, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2017, which Mayor Jim Lane has officially proclaimed as “Women’s Golf Day” in Scottsdale. Open to the public, the event will include golf clinics taught by Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Central Section members, a marketplace of vendors offering golf products for women, drawings for prizes, lunch specials at the Brittlebush Bar & Grill, and special rates on greens fees for participants.

“The Westin Kierland Golf Club is known for its commitment to innovation and fun. Now, we’re pairing that commitment with the goal of bringing more women into the game,” said Nancy Dickens, director of Golf at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.
The idea for the women’s golf expo originally was conceived by Sandy LaBauve, a Golf Digest Top 50 Golf Instructor who teaches at the course’s LaBauve Golf Academy and former LPGA player and local instructor Tina Tombs. LaBauve says that the event will provide women who are new to golf an ideal introduction to the game in a friendly setting and help veteran players learn tips for improving their game.

“Learning golf can seem intimidating to many women who have always viewed it as a man’s game. We’re working to change that notion and to simplify what women need to know to really enjoy the game,” LaBauve said.

Tickets for the 2017 Women’s Golf Expo are $25 per person in advance or $40 at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit LPGA USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix, a non-profit program of the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, which organizes a variety of golf events throughout the year to create a network for girls to learn to play golf, build friendships and compete in a non-threatening environment.
