Team Troon On Tour: Woodland Top 5 at Wells Fargo, Montgomerie with a Top 40 finish at Regions Tradition
The PGA TOUR slid north a smidge up to Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC for the Wells Fargo Championships. For those that recall, Quail Hollow was the site of Justin Thomas’ first major victory in the 2017 PGA Championship. As such JT would ride into Charlotte as a favorite amongst the very strong field. However, one Gary Woodland would lead Team Troon and jump to the top of the leaderboard after an opening round 67. He held the “first page of the leaderboard position” for all four rounds, ultimately coming up three shots shy of eventual winner in Rory McIlroy. Justin Thomas would finish T26 at even par.
Complete Team Troon results are as follows:
Wells Fargo Championship
- T5 – Gary Woodland 67-69-70-71: -7
- T26 – Justin Thomas 69-73-71-71: Even
PGA Champions Tour
The PGA Champions Tour moved from Houston over to Birmingham, Alabama for the Regions Tradition. Colin Montgomerie would finish T39 amongst a strong field. His four round total is below:
