Team Troon on Tour: Two Victories From Team Troon This Weekend
WOW…what a week/weekend for Team Troon…and the Troon Team at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples!
The weekend fireworks started Sunday (Saturday overnight in the Americas). Following his week of practice/preparation at the Els Club Dubai, Matt Fitzpatrick strung together four solid rounds in the European Tour finale to claim his second victory at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. Fitzpatrick entered the final day tied for the lead, but started his final round in hot fashion with four birdies. He ultimately would finish at -15, one shot ahead of Lee Westwood (who would ultimately capture the Race to Dubai). This victory marks Matt’s sixth European Tour title. Congrats Matt!

Then on Sunday (in Americas), the team of Matt Kuchar and his partner Harris English would capture their third QBE Shootout at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples…in record setting fashion. The team of Kuchar/English became the first team to win the event three times. They also finished at a record setting 37-under 179 to break the mark of 34 under they set in 2013. Lastly they won by nine strokes…topping their previous record of seven en-route to their 2013 title. Congrats to Matt Kuchar…and the entire Tiburón Team on a great event

Coming Up
One cool factoid…if you look on the PGA Tour schedule the next event is the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua Plantation Course on Maui, January 6 – 10, 2021…thus the PGA TOUR will technically be at Troon locales two weeks in a row (with last week’s event being the QBE Shootout at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples).
Speaking on Tiburón Golf Club…
The team has back to back weeks of hosting Tour Events. As noted above, last week was the QBE Shootout…this week they play host to the LPGA Tour’s season-ending event, the CME Group Tour Championship! CME Group Tour Championship will also be played on Tiburón’s Gold Course and will feature a field of the top 60 point earners and ties from the season-long Race to the CME Globe competition. Established in 2011, the event has been played at Tiburón Golf Club since 2013. All four rounds of the season-ending championship will be broadcast on Golf Channel with final round coverage on NBC.
