Team Troon on Tour: Thomas & Noren Compete in Tokyo For Olympics
PGA TOUR
The PGA TOUR was on an Olympic break and Team Troon had two Olympians competing for their respective countries: Justin Thomas was on Team USA and Alex Noren was on Team Sweden. Noren would end up being low Team Troon member after shooting a solid four round total of -11 and finishing T16 (four shots shy of the seven player playoff for a Bronze medal…eventually won by C.T. Pan). Thomas would finish with solid weekend rounds to end up at -10 for T22. Congrats to Xander Schauffele from Team USA would win Gold, followed by Rory Sabbatini, playing for Slovakia who took home Silver, and the afore mentioned Chinese Taipei’s C.T. Pan for winning Bronze in stunning fashion. Team Troon results for Noren and Thomas, respectfully, are as follows:
- T16 Alex Noren, Team Sweden: 67-67-72-67: -11
- T22 Justin Thomas, Team USA: 71-70-68-65: -10

Coming Up
The PGA TOUR resumes with two events this week…the WGC Fed Ex St. Jude’s Invitational at TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN and Barracuda Championship at Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood) in Trukee, CA.
Justin Thomas and Matt Fitzpatrick are in the strong field at WGC Fed Ex St. Jude’s Invitational (a field that has 48 -eight of the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking)
Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland are both in the field at the Barracuda Championship.
The PGA Champions tour is on break through August 13th with the next event being the Shaw Charity Classic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The next event on the LPGA schedule is at Dumbarnie Links… designed by Clive Clark, and one that many associates in the OB Sports family/brand were intimately involved with from the beginning. Best of luck to the entire Team at Dumbarnie Links as they prep and get ready to host the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, August 12-15. We will all be tuning in with excitement and anticipation!
Shareable
While not exactly Team Troon related (but certainly shareable) congrats to Westhaven Golf Club’s teaching professional Kim Williams on her impressive Top 10 finish in the US Senior Women’s Open held in Fairfield, Connecticut. Kim would finish T7 after rounds of 72-72-74-72. Callaway Golf ambassador and women’s golf icon in Annika Sörenstam would capture her 11th career major victory, but we know the members/associates of Westhaven were excited to see Kim on page one of the leaderboard for all four rounds. Congrats Kim on a great week!
Have a great week and GO TEAM TROON!
