PGA TOUR – Wells Fargo Championship
Just one week away from the second major of the year (PGA Championship) the last warm up was a big one in the signature event: the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Wells Fargo was stacked with members of Team Troon as well as Troon Investor/Supporter Rory McIlroy. Congrats is in order to Rory who had another fantastic week, getting his second victory in a row (he captured the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowery two weeks prior). Congrats Rory! Low Team Troon was Justin Thomas at T21 and then Alex Noren at T24. Complete Team Troon scores follow. Congrats Rory and great playing Team Troon!

PGA TOUR – Myrtle Beach Classic
The opposite field event this week was not too far down the road in the Myrtle Beach Classic held at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Team Troon member Erik van Rooyen was the solo member playing there and had a great week. His first three rounds included only two bogies and he was in second going into the final round (after making a long putt on 18 to shoot 65). He ultimately would finish in the top five and 15 under par. Solid playing EVR!
- T4 Erik van Rooyen: 67-67-65-70 = / -15
PGA Champions Tour – Regions Tradition.
The PGA TOUR Champions returned to Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, AL for the first major in the Regions Tradition operated by Eventive Sports, A Troon Company. Colin Montgomerie was in the field and would finish T67 for the event. Congrats is in order for our associates/colleagues at Eventive Sports on an amazing event. The Regions Tradition is one of the many iconic events they put on throughout the year and are proud of their exceptional job…this week and every week!
- T67 Colin Montgomerie: 72-76-74-73 = 295 / +7
COMING UP
PGA TOUR – PGA Championship
It is officially PGA Championship week and Valhalla Golf Club will be the home for all the action. This will mark the fourth PGA Championship the club has hosted since its opening in 1986. Justin Thomas has his fair share of success this week as he won the event back in 2017 and 2022. It will also be great to cheer on Troon Investor/Supporter Rory McIlroy as he has also won the event twice, 2012 and in 2014. The Team Troon line up in the PGA Championship is as follows:
Justin Thomas
Matt Fitzpatrick – with an Kentucky Derby inspired Troon Bag (that also pays homage to our PGA Professionals – see below)
Alex Noren
Erik van Rooyen
Gary Woodland
Plus afore mentioned Troon Investor/Supporter in Rory McIlroy.
LPGA/EPSON TOUR – Copper Rock Championship
The LPGA’s Epson Tour is heading north to Hurricane, UT for the Copper Rock Championship. This marks the fourth year of this event on tour and we wish Benedetta Moresco a great week!
Shareable
Last week we hosted a complimentary First Tee clinic with Justin Thomas and Mike Thomas at Dr. Charles L Sifford Golf course, part of four courses under our management within Mecklenburg County. Over 100 junior golfer attended the interactive event that was picked up by the Golf Channel (mentions during the tournament) and had a segment included in Golf Channel’s “The Cut,” airing this week.
The local news affiliate in WCCB Charlotte did a great job sharing the story (which also included a spontaneous donation from JT to the First Tee of Greater Charlotte – THANK YOU JT!).
Click on the image (or CLICK HERE) and watch the feature that included great mentions of Troon, and our partnership with First Tee, Mecklenburg County and so much more.
Justin Thomas shared the day (and great photos) his 1.6 M Instagram Followers…THANK YOU JT AND MIKE for helping us put on a great event for the junior golfers in Charlotte!!!
Keep an eye out for Matt Fitzpatrick’s all Troon bag at the PGA Championship. This Sun Mountain bag is Kentucky Derby-inspired (with jockey jersey patterns) and pays homage to the fact that Troon is the largest employer of PGA Professionals.
Below is a sneak peak of the golf bag! Go low this week Matt. THANK YOU to all of the PGA Professionals in the world of Troon that are growing our clients business and growing the game! The work you do is remarkable!
Have a great week. Go Team Troon!
