PGA TOUR
The PGA TOUR was in Minnesota last week for the second edition of the 3M Open. The lone Team Troon member playing in this past week’s event was Alex Noren…and did he play well! He finished tied for 3rd after two 66’s on the weekend got him to -16 under…just two shy of eventual winner Michael Thompson. This event was huge for Noren as he jumped from #116 in Fed Ex Points to #82. This jump was important in that the shorted PGA Tour season has the Fed Ex Cup playoffs teeing off in just three short weeks with the
The Northern Trust at TPC Boston (Aug 20-23)…an event where only the top 125 on the Fed Ex Points list get in. Noren’s strong weekend finish puts him (and the other 5 Team Troon PGATOUR professionals) in great position to have a solid playoff run. Congrats Alex.

Yes! The LPGA Tour is finally back as the ladies get started this week as well…with the LPGA Drive On Championship being contested in Toledo, Ohio. Like the restart of the PGA TOUR, this event will be played with no spectators or pro-am, and with players, caddies and staff undergo testing for COVID-19, all while maintaining social/physical distancing. Golden Age golf course architecture aficionados will also appreciate the return of the LPGA Tour in that it will be played at the Donald Ross designed Inverness Club, site of next year’s Solheim Cup and former host venue of four U.S. Open’s and two PGA Championships.
Best of all Cheyenne Woods and her all Troon bag will be in the field, competing in this LPGA Tour event (and next week’s as well).
Welcome back LPGA and Go Cheyenne!
