Team Troon on Tour: Matt Kuchar & Bubba Watson at QBE Shootout, Three Team Troon Teams at PNC

First off a big congratulations is in order for the Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples, Florida on an amazing QBE Shootout last week. The golf course looked perfect on television and the competition was great too. Speaking of competition, there were two members of Team Troon in the field: defending champion Matt Kuchar (with his partner Harris English) and the newest addition to Team Troon in Bubba Watson (with his partner Lexi Thompson). Both teams were at the top of the leaderboard for most of the event with Team Troon members getting a lot of television coverage on Golf Channel and NBC Sports. Ultimately the Kuchar/English team would finish T3 (two shots shy of the winning combo of Kokrak/Na) and the Watson/Thompson team would finish T9. Congrats to all and congrats again to the Tiburón Team. You rocked it!

Coming Up
This week the tour stays in Florida for the PNC Championship in Orlando. Formerly the Father/Son Challenge, and still family centric, the event has evolved to general family competition (some golfers play with their daughters… some play with their grandsons) in a two day/two round scramble. The eyes of the sports world will be on the event (and the television coverage on Golf Channel / NBC Sports) as this marks the return of Tiger Woods to competitive play (who is teamed up with his son, Charlie). But Team Woods will have to get past THREE Team Troon teams including the defending champions (comprised of Team Troon ers) in Justin Thomas and Mike Thomas. Justin and Mike captured the event last year by shooting 62-57 to finish at 25 under, beating Vijay Singh and son by one. Other Team Troon “Teams” in the field include Bubba Watson, playing with father in law Wayne Ball and Matt Kuchar, playing with his son Cameron Kuchar.
As defending champions, the Father-Son Thomas combo has appeared on multiple Golf Channel interviews with Mike Thomas’ Troon logoed cap (side) and shirt showing well on pre-tournament Golf Channel Coverage (see snip below). It’s going to be an exciting weekend…Go Team Troon!
