Team Troon on Tour: Fitzpatrick Wins, Woodland with a Top 10… Highlighting a busy Team Troon Week
European Tour
The highlight of Team Troon this past week was certainly Matt Fitzpatrick as he captured the title at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters on the European Tour! He joins a list of Valderrama winners that include Sergio Garcia, Bernhard Langer, Sir Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros and fellow Team Troon member Colin Montgomerie. Fitzpatrick entered the final round three shots off the lead and rattled off 15 straight pars to start his round, as others stumbled along the 1997 Ryder Cup venue. He would then birdie 16 and 17 to put him in total control at six under, three shots clear of Australian Min Woo Lee and Swede Sebastian Soderberg. From all of us in the World of Troon…Congrats Matt on your seventh European Tour victory!

The second of two events in Las Vegas concluded with the CJ Cup at Summit. There were three Team Troon members in the strong (and limited) field that included the top 60 from the prior season’s FedExCup points list plus sponsor exemptions. Gary Woodland made the most of his exemption to finish T9 after carding an impressive final round 65 to finish -20, five back of eventual winner Rory McIlroy. Strong performances were also made by Justin Thomas (who had a Top 20 finish with “Bones” on the bag) and Alex Noren who shot -10 for the event. Solid playing Team Troon!

- T18 Justin Thomas, 69-67-70-64: -18
- T59 Alex Noren, 72-69-67-70: -10

Colin Montgomerie and his all Troon bag was in the field for the SAS Championship. Colin would finish T53 for the three round event with a couple events left in the season (more on that in the “Coming Up Next Week” section). Keep grinding Colin! We are pulling for you.

LPGA / LET
Cheyenne Woods and a world class field was playing in the first of its kind, Aramco Team Series. Taking place across three continents, each series event has the world’s best players teaming up with an amateur golfers to compete for a $1M prize fund as well as Rolex Rankings, Solheim Cup ranking points, and part of the Race to Costa del Sol Official Rankings. The Team portion of the event was captured by Jessica Korda’s team after a two-hole playoff under the lights in New York. In addition to the team competition, the Aramco event also had an individual leaderboard whereby Team Troon’s Cheyenne Woods finished at T55. Thank you Cheyenne for playing and supporting the New York version of the Aramco Team Series…quite a cool/creative format.
- T55 Cheyenne Woods, 75-72-77: +8
The last of this year’s four Aramco Team Series events will be played at a stunning Troon International locale in Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, November 10-12
Coming Up Next Week:
PGA TOUR
The next event on the PGA Tour official schedule is the ZOZO Championship at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. This marks the first time the PGA TOUR heads back to Asia since late 2019 as the ZOZO Championship was held in California in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alex Noren is the Team Troon member making the trip to Japan to play and compete for the purse and the 500 Fed Ex Cup points that are up for grabs. Go low Alex!
PGA Champions Tour
There is only two more regular season PGA Champions Tour events before the season ending Charles Schwab Cup at Phoenix Country Club, a shining gem within the Troon Privé family of affiliated clubs. But first up is the Dominion Energy Charity Classic in Richmond, Virginia. Team Troon’s Colin Montgomerie will be in the strong field that includes defending champion and Callaway Golf ambassador, Phil Mickelson. Go low this week Colin!
Have a great week and go Team Troon!
