Staying TroonFIT with Steven Tinoco: Mind Games for Better Workouts
It happens to all of us when it comes to not wanting to workout certain days or just going through the motions at the gym.
The struggle to push through it, hits harder than anything else when it comes to trying to make working out a routine. I’m here to help you trick your mind to get through your workouts each day and make it even better than you anticipated.
First, give yourself a specific time limit to hit while you’re working out. If you’re usually at the gym for an Hour and Fifteen minutes and you’re just not feeling it that day, tell yourself you’re going to go hard for forty five minutes and that is it. Mentally, you know you’re cutting off a good chunk of time, but in reality for that forty five minutes you’re training harder than you ever have. Solely due to the fact you want to get all your lifts in.
Next, tell yourself, you’re going to get a nice treat for a meal when you’re done. Usually, this will help you sweat a little more, run a little harder or lift a little heavier because you have in your mind you’re going to have some food that’s not as healthy for you. So, you’re trying to even it out with your workout. This might not be it or you, but the majority of the time after a great workout, you wont even want to treat yourself because you feel so good!
Lastly, change up the playlist you listen to on your headphones. Sometimes a simple change in music can clear your mind and set the tone for you to get a great workout in. If you usually listen to country, try classic rock or whatever else you may like. Change up the monotony of listening to the same thing over and over.
