Scottsdale, Ariz. Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that Troon North® Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. has achieved designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program. Troon North Golf Club is the 14th course in Arizona to receive this prestigious honor.

Brad Anderson, director of agronomy at Troon North Golf Club, has led the effort to obtain sanctuary status on the Monument and Pinnacle courses and is being recognized for Environmental Stewardship by Audubon International. “Our team is extremely committed to the environmental stewardship of our golf courses and we are proud to obtain the sanctuary status,” said Anderson. “The level of dedication we bring to creating unparalleled playing conditions is only matched by our efforts to create a friendly environment that enhances the natural areas and wildlife habitats our courses provide.”

To reach certification, a course must demonstrate it is maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas. These categories include: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

“Troon North Golf Club has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program,” said Jim Sluiter, staff ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs. “They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on their golf course property.”

In an effort to celebrate the process of earning this achievement, Troon North’s department of agronomy created an online photo gallery featuring the thriving wildlife living at the 36-hole facility. Click here to view the photos submitted by golfers and associates or visit www.troonnorthgolf.com.
