THE GOLFER MAGAZINE RECOGNIZES SEVERAL TROON GOLF FACILITIES
Scottsdale, Arizona – Troon Golf, the world’s leading management, development, and marketing company specializing in high-end, luxury golf facilities, is pleased to announce that THE GOLFER Magazine has honored four esteemed golf courses from the company’s prestigious collection of properties as “The Best of the World” in several categories. The results are featured in the magazine’s Heritage 2001 issue.
The following three facilities have been recognized as “The Best of the World – Desert Courses”:
Cabo del Sol – The Ocean Course, Los Cabos, Mexico – The renowned Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design set against the Sea of Cortés. Often called the “Pebble Beach of Mexico,” the desert-style design frames dramatic ocean views where seven holes play along the sandy shore and white-capping waves meet the rock and cacti.
Troon North Golf Club – Monument course, Scottsdale, Arizona – Standing as the Troon Golf flagship marked by hallmark playing conditions and exceptional customer service, Troon North Golf Club offers the ultimate high-end, daily-fee golf experience. Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the Monument in 1990 and it continues to weave its unique desert challenges in visual splendor found only in the high Sonoran landscape.
Talking Stick Golf Club – North course, Scottsdale, Arizona — Built by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, Talking Stick Golf Club offers an original approach to desert design by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. In a tribute to the game’s Scottish heritage, the North course is set in the open desert grassland east of Scottsdale with expansive views of the surrounding desert mountain ranges, and features an intriguing array of fairway and greenside bunkers.
THE GOLFER also recognized the famed Ailsa Course at Turnberry Hotel, Golf Courses & Spa, A Westin Resort in Ayrshire, Scotland in two different areas as “The Best of the World – Resort Courses and Links Courses”. The much-revered Scottish golf property marks Troon Golf’s first international management contract. The Magazine also honored the golf shop as one of “The Best of the World – Pro Shops.”
“We are honored by the recognition bestowed on these magnificent golf courses,” said Troon Golf President and Chief Operating Officer, Hud Hinton. “Our global vision of Troon Golf was founded on the concept of superlative golf experiences, so we are especially proud when our facilities are considered among the world’s best.”
