KING & BEAR AT WORLD GOLF VILLAGE HONORED BY GOLF INC. WITH GOLDEN FORK AWARD

St. Augustine, Fla. (February 18, 2021) – King & Bear at World Golf Village has been honored by Golf Inc. magazine with a 2021 Golden Fork award. AJ’s Kitchen & Cocktails placed second in the New Public Course category in the publication’s annual Golden Fork competition. Golf Inc., the world’s only magazine for golf course developers, owners and management company executives, annually recognizes the best new amenities and golf industry’s top dining facilities (Golden Fork Awards) at public and private golf clubs in its February/March issue.

Last summer, King & Bear at World Golf Village completed a nearly $2 million clubhouse renovation project. The project included a complete renovation and rebranding of the restaurant formerly known as The Champions’ Grille, an expansion of the outdoor dining area, upgrades to the golf shop and enhancements to the men’s and women’s locker rooms. AJ’s Kitchen & Cocktails pays homage to the course’s two legendary designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The restaurant exudes a Southern Coastal and Lowcountry feel with new flooring, an updated color pallet and new furniture to brighten the interior and add a fresh, modern appearance.  The new open concept offers flexible seating options and new communal tables. In addition, the bar was expanded to twenty seats and includes new flat screen televisions, and the outdoor patio was enlarged to now include covered and non-covered seating, two fire-pits and a relaxing lounge area on the lawn overlooking the 9th and 18th greens.

Golf Inc. recognized 19 honorees this year, 11 in the Golden Fork categories for best new and renovated dining facilities, and eight in three amenity categories.

AJ’s Kitchen & Cocktails’ menu features chef-inspired signature dinner dishes such as the Minorcan Skillet and Atlantic Tuna Poke, a variety of small plate options, freshly made salads, and comfort food with a local twist. Specialty drinks, beer samplers, and a wine wall are also available, along with an array of signature craft cocktails. The restaurant serves lunch daily, offers dinner service Tuesday through Saturday, and Sunday brunch.

Troon Design handled the design and architectural changes, while Ben Bradley of Bent Construction of Jacksonville was the project contractor.
