INDIAN WELLS GOLF RESORT HOSTS NEWEST SEASON OF THE BIG BREAK
Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that Indian Wells Golf Resort, located in Indian Wells, Calif., is the host site for the 15th season of the Golf Channel’s “Big Break” television series.
The Big Break is the Golf Channel’s award-winning reality show pitting aspiring professional golfers against each other for a chance to play in a PGA Tour event. Contestants compete in a series of golf challenges that eliminate the weakest player after each episode. This year’s show features an exciting cast of talented and entertaining contestants, filmed over several days on both the Celebrity and Players courses at Indian Wells Golf Resort, one of golf’s most desirable destinations.
To celebrate the May 2011 series premier on the Golf Channel, Indian Wells Golf Resort has teamed up with the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa; Indian Wells Resort Hotel; Miramonte Resort & Spa; and Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa to offer the “Big Break Indian Wells Stay & Play Package.” Visitors are invited to experience luxurious accommodations, championship golf on both the Celebrity and Players courses, and the same immaculate playing conditions enjoyed by the cast of the Big Break. For details on each stay and play offer, call 1.800.308.1183 or visit www.indianwells.com/bigbreak.
“We are thrilled to be the host site for the Golf Channel’s hit show the Big Break,” stated Rich Carter, general manager, Indian Wells Golf Resort. “Both the Celebrity Course and the Players Course present an ideal setting for this type of show because of the incredible backdrops that are displayed on every hole. The weather and course conditions could not have been better while filming – it truly displays what golfers experience when they visit our property. We hope visitors will take advantage of the stay and play packages to experience it all for themselves.”
Designed by course architect Clive Clark, the Celebrity Course measures just over 7,000 yards. Playability, diversity, and challenge are among the highlights of this desert masterpiece, which features breathtaking mountain views and stunning water features.
The Players Course, designed by John Fought, is a brilliant contrast to the Celebrity Course, measuring more than 7,300 yards. The course was completed in 2007 and features dynamic bunkering and generous fairway corridors. The undulating topography delivers an added challenge and interest to every approach shot.
Indian Wells Golf Resort recently opened a 53,000 square-foot clubhouse called the IW Club. The completion of this multi-purpose facility marks the end of an ambitious development project that now boasts a complete package of world-class golf and desert lifestyle offerings. Clubhouse amenities include a golf shop with a variety of retail offerings, the Callaway Performance Center that is one of just nine in the country, as well as fine and casual dining venues that offer unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains.
