Nick Pulido – Hispanic Heritage Month

Like many who came into the game, Nick got into the business of golf during the COVID years. Nick was formerly with Salesforce and was furloughed during the pandemic and began his search to find another career opportunity.  There was an opening at Marquette Park Golf Course for a shop attendant and he knew he could put his sales and soft skills together. He reached out to Regional Director of Operations, Bill Cogan and the rest is history.

When Nick started at Marquette, he worked under the guidance of Kristy Edwards, then General Manager.   Together they brought the facility to #1 in customer service in the Midwest region in 2021, when Nick earned a promotion to Assistant General Manager. In 2022 Nick was promoted to General Manager.  “One of the biggest challenges was becoming a multi facility operator.  I learned to develop as a leader and build/train top notch golf operation teams to drive our mission of providing fun, enjoyable golf experiences.” He added, “As with any new position, it’s challenging; however, I’ve grown into the role and am grateful for the opportunity to grow professionally and personally.”

We asked Nick if he had much time for golf lately and he laughed and said, “There is never enough time to play, but I try and get out a few times a month – there’s benefit to playing as you learn the layout of the course and see it from a different perspective.”  Nick enjoys bringing a few associates out to play with him, “It’s a good way for us to connect and have fun during the season.”

A little unknown fact about Nick is that he has won a few Cornhole tournaments! His dad “Big Nick”, who also works for Troon in the agronomy department, began making a few sets and Nick’s love of the game blossomed. Be sure to get him on your team at the next company outing!

As for something Nick is most proud of, he says, “The collaborative, relentless effort from Agronomy to Operations to serve our communities and provide quality golf experiences on the south and west side of Chicago.”
