Mollymook Golf Club’s Kelsey Bennett wins U.S. Women’s Amateur Qualifying event in Georgia
Kelsey Bennett, a member of Mollymook Golf Club in New South Wales, Australia since the age of 10 has been stamping her name on the world amateur golf scene. Kelsey travelled to England last month where she finished 5th in the Women’s Amateur Championship in Norfolk after making a massive comeback from 4 down in her quarter-final match to eventually get beaten on the 20th Hole.
Kelsey then flew to the United States to play in the Heritage Classic in Wichita, Kansas to compete against the professionals on the Women’s All Pro Tour. Kelsey finished with a total of 8 under par 280 (72, 73, 69, 66) to finish Runner-Up and then headed to Georgia to try and pre-qualify for the US Women’s Amateur Championship. Kelsey shot a 4 under par 67 to win the regional qualifying event which means she has secured her spot in the 122nd U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay in Washington from the 9th – 15th August.
Kelsey now heads to Pinehurst in North Carolina for the North & South Amateur Championship starting on the 10th July.
Kelsey has also recently been selected to represent Australia at the 2022 World Amateur Teams Championship in Paris, France later this year.
When Kelsey isn’t playing in major events you will find her in her role as Golf & Leisure Attendant working in the golf shop, reception or coffee shop at either of the Hilltop or Beachside Clubhouses at Mollymook Golf Club.
