Many Things To Many People

Those of us in Northern climes may fantasize about tropical or desert golf in the midst of winter – and this last one was exceptionally brutal – but the rest of the year we enjoy plenty of golf charms of our own.

At Centennial Golf Club, in Carmel, New York, for example, a craggy, exemplary New England landscape is quick to get your interest. On a recent visit the course was buzzing with activity: a high school team match and a junior clinic were taking place, and the practice areas were thrumming with a diverse assortment of golfers.

Centennial’s 27 holes offer great flexibility, and every ounce of that flexibility is utilized. The combination of teaching and practice facilities, 340 acres, and 27 holes reinforces the facility’s efforts to be many things to many people.

But then Centennial – in Carmel, New York, approximately 60 miles north of Manhattan – is located within one of the most affluent and densely populated corridors between New York City and Hartford, at the intersection of Westchester, Putnam, and Fairfield (Connecticut) counties. Thus, it is both convenient for the many local residents as well as a worthy stop on any travel itinerary.
