GolfBoard Named Troon Preferred Partner
Surf-Inspired, Individual Use GolfBoard Promoted to Troon Properties and Customers
Via Multi-Channel Program
(BEND, OR) – GolfBoard – the first and only substantive, surf-inspired, motorized golf vehicle built specifically for the sport – has been named a preferred partner to Troon and will be promoted to the company’s portfolio of high-end properties and customers via dedicated marketing channels.
Troon has been impressed with client engagement and increased pace of play as golfers “surfed the earth” during initial implementation at Sewailo Golf Club, The Westin Kierland Golf Club in Arizona and Princeville Makai Golf Club in Hawaii. These case studies, along with programming ideas, operational support and implementation plans offered by GolfBoard will be emphasized to decision makers across Troon’s vast portfolio.
“GolfBoards are in demand all over the country and creating significant growth opportunities for our partners,” says John Wildman, CEO of GolfBoard. “Our new relationship with Troon furthers this momentum as GolfBoarding continues to attract new players to the game.”
Additionally, GolfBoarding will reach Troon’s robust consumer database through digital communications and features in the company’s editorial vehicles, Troon Golf & Travel and Troon Privé Connect e-magazines. GolfBoard will also be prominently featured on the Troon website and within its mobile app.
“At our test courses, such as the recently introduced 20 board program at the World Golf Village, golfers consistently want to experience the thrill of GolfBoarding,” says Brett Brooks, Troon’s Director of Marketing Communications and Global Business Development. “By encouraging GolfBoards at all Troon properties, we can attract new golfers and energize existing ones by offering a new and exciting way to play golf.”
Conceived by Bally Total Fitness Founder Don Wildman and legendary big wave surfer Laird Hamilton, GolfBoarding is an entirely new way to traverse the golf course and is forever changing the way golfers experience the game. The four-wheel drive board allows users to turn by simply transferring their body weight in a carving motion akin to snowboarding or surfing.
Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, GolfBoards are ultra-durable and built with a safety-first and user-friendly mantra to provide golfers a more active and engaging alternative to riding in a cart. Advanced technology allows GolfBoarders to customize board settings and configurations, including adjusting speeds from 6 to 10 mph via a simple, one-touch switch.
Available since April 2014, GolfBoard, courses have realized increases in rounds played and revenue, and improved pace of play. GolfBoard is now offered at more than 120 courses in the US, Canada, and Mexico. More than 300 additional private, daily-fee and resort courses are scheduled for product delivery over the next 90 days, and hundreds of individual golfers – including PGA Tour stars and A-List celebrities – have purchased GolfBoards for personal use at their favorite courses.
