GARRETT BOE WINS GRAPEVINE AMATEUR
NAPA, California—Garrett Boe (Clovis, CA) played a sensational round of golf Friday to win the 2022 Grapevine Amateur at Silverado Golf Club. Boe shot a final-round six-under par 66 on Silverado’s North Course en route to a three-shot, come from behind victory over Ryan Firpo of Davis, CA. Boe finished at -9 for the week. Friday’s final round featured steady rain all round on an already sopping wet track in the Napa Valley. Boe had an incredible day of ball-striking, hitting all 18 greens in regulation, including hitting three of the par-5s in two-shots. Firpo, the 36-hole leader, shot two-under par 70, a tremendous round by itself (and the overall third low round of the day). Edan Cui (Atherton, CA) finished in 3rd, seven back of Boe’s pace, with Brandon Knight (Pleasanton, CA) and Mason Benbrook (Carmichael, CA) tied for fourth at -1.
BOE ON TODAY’S ROUND AND THE OVERALL WIN: “This win means a lot to me because I feel like I keep getting better and better but it’s nice to finally see a result. I felt like my irons and wedge play was the best part of my game this week and allowed me to make a lot of birdies. Today I hit 18 greens and three par-5s in two shots. My goal going into today was just to hit fairways and give myself an opportunity for birdie.”
WEATHER: Rain on Tuesday limited course availability to just the afternoon for the practice round. The weather for Wednesday’s 1st round was dry with highs in the upper 50s. Rain was off and on during round 2 and rain was dominant during today’s final round. The agronomy team at Silverado did an outstanding job preparing the golf course all week.
