Falls Golf & Country Club Assistant Golf Pro Qualified For 2015 PGA Championship
Troon would like to congratulate Assistant Golf Professional Alan Morin from Falls Golf & Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla. for his qualifying status and upcoming play in the PGA Championship being held at Whistling Straights in Kohler, Wis.
Although this is Morin’s sixth time since 2002 that he’s qualified to play at the PGA Championship, he says it’s not as easy as it seems. “Experience plays a big part,” says Morin, who has been at Falls Golf & Country Club for the last 15 years. After teaching himself to play golf starting at the age of 14, Morin has excelled at the sport. His focus and determination have also contributed to earning a spot on Team USA for the PGA Cup, where he will compete against Great Britain and Ireland.
General Manager Richard Stropp says Morin is a club favorite with members. “Alan’s qualifying is big news around here, and our members aren’t shy about showing their support,” said Stropp. “We’ve been with him every step of the way and are all quite proud of his accomplishment,” he added.
For Morin, it’s an exciting diversion from his day job as assistant golf professional, but he knows he’s not heading up to Wisconsin for a vacation. He’ll play hard for a win but, although the tournament provides an opportunity for him to move up the professional ladder, his commitment to the members back in Lake Worth is what grounds him. “It’s very rewarding when I get to help our members improve their game by giving them little tips here and there,” says Morin. “Their support means the world to me, so I’ll do my best to make them proud.”
