DYLAN McDERMOTT WINS GRAPEVINE AMATEUR
Granite Bay’s McDermott Goes Wire-to-Wire at Silverado
NAPA, CA—Dylan McDermott (Granite Bay, CA) shot a final round 71 (-1) to finish at -2 and win the 2021 Grapevine Amateur at Silverado Resort by one shot over Davis McDowell (San Rafael, CA) and Trey Davis (Plumas Lake, CA). McDermott, the University of Colorado Freshman, held the lead after all rounds of the tournament and kept the lead throughout the entire day. Davis McDowell’s long eagle try on 18 narrowly missed and McDermott two-putted for par to take home the title. At the start of the day there were fifteen players within the lead and there was little separation as the day went on, with twelve players finishing the tournament within five shots of McDermott.
McDERMOTT ON THE WIN: “I played well all week but struggled on the greens. It felt good to pull of the win. The course played tough and I feel the main way to play good out there is to keep the ball in the fairway. With some tough pins I just needed to keep the ball below the hole and give myself makeable putts.”
